SHOW UP TO AUDITIONS DAY-OF, NO NEED TO RSVP!
All auditions are open to ALL youth ages 5-20 and alumni who have performed in a previous show of “Night of 1,000 Stars”.
NOTE: Please refer to the Health/Safety Policy section in the menu of our website for more info on how we are preparing for auditions, dress rehearsals, and anyone attending the shows.
We welcome talented singers, dancers, actors, comedians, ensembles, bands, instrumentalists, poets and rappers who will commit to rehearsals in preparation for their Taos Center for the Arts live performances for audiences who love to see our young performers live onstage!
2024 Auditions will be held at The Wildflower Playhouse (1339 Paseo Del Pueblo Sur, Taos, NM 87571 - behind the UPS store) during the following days/times:
- Friday, Jan. 12 @ 4PM - 8PM
- Saturday, Jan. 13 @ 11AM - 3PM
- Sunday, Jan. 14 @ 11AM - 3PM
Each person who auditions, whether as a soloist and/or as part of a duo/trio/band or ensemble will be required to audition 3 different pieces.
The teen judges, who also serve as onstage hosts for the performances, will give feedback to each person who auditions. After auditions, the judges and Cindy Valerio will make their selections of performers for the shows. Selected performers will receive notice in advance and should be prepared to attend one or more dress rehearsals, and perform in the assigned show(s).
AUDITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Choose the best age-appropriate material to showcase his/her talent.
- Rehearse your chosen materials frequently ahead of the auditions.
- Prepare 3 different numbers.
- Performers will need to complete a wellness form at the audition, as well as a permission/liability form. The permission/liability form will be provided at the audition site to sign day-of or you can download it here, fill it out beforehand, and bring the signed version with you to your audition. If 18 or older, the performer may sign on their own behalf.
- Talent must be able to attend their assigned Dress Rehearsal between Feb. 25-27 and/or Feb. 29.
- Talent must be able to perform in at least one live show between March 1 & 2.
- Bring all instruments, props, and costumes you will use for your act.
- Bring your own keyboard to the audition as needed. There is a piano in the lobby of the audition site, so if any performer would like to use their piano then they must audition in the lobby, rather than the theater. We cannot move the piano to the theater, because then the piano would need to be retuned. We ask for your understanding with this.
- Singers not accompanying themselves on their own instruments are asked to bring their own pre-recorded music on a flash drive or they can bring an accompanist with them to their audition.
- If using a flash drive, it will be used to accompany the artist at rehearsals and performances. Performers must submit music on the flash drive as soon as possible before their assigned dress rehearsal, or they will not be permitted to rehearse and perform.
- At auditions only, singers may use pre-recorded background music on their phone without vocals (including background vocals). If they are a non-singing act, the music may have background vocals.
- Dancers may have original artists singing and/or playing instrumental music on their background tracks. However, this music must be on a flash drive.
HEALTH/SAFETY POLICY:
- Masks are no longer required for auditions, unless you choose to wear a mask, which will be respected.
- Upon entering the audition site, all people will be required to wash their hands/sanitize.
- If your act is selected, we require that you bring a negative COVID test result, taken within four hours before you come to your dress rehearsal and your performance(s).
- We strongly insist that if you feel sick, are coughing and/or you have a fever, please do not come to auditions, rehearsals, or performances, but you have to talk to us about this in advance.
- Please stay home if you or a person you have been in contact with is experiencing symptoms of COVID-19.
- ARTSOUL, Inc. will provide responsible adults and teens at the front door where youth and parents will enter the theater.
We deeply appreciate your understanding and compliance.
