About Us

How "Night of 1,000 Stars" Was Born...

Actress, Singer, Licensed Professional Counselor, Taos Performing Arts Advocate, and our fearless leader - Cindy Valerio started the annual, nonprofit, talent showcase "Night of 1,000 Stars" back in 2004 in Taos, New Mexico. She also co-founded ARTSOUL, Inc., a 501c3 whose purpose "is to create, produce, promote and present collaborative, multi-cultural activities and projects that are therapeutic, theatrical and musical in nature."

Cindy grew up performing in New York City and moved to Taos over 25 years ago. Eventually she thought "why shouldn't the kids of Taos be able to get on the stage and express themselves? And have people come to cheer them on, excited, where the glory is just the performance itself."

That's when Taos Community's staple, annual, talent showcase, "Night of 1,000 Stars" was born. "Night of 1000 Stars" was an instant hit for young performers in Taos who were just waiting for their chance to perform on stage.

Every year we bond and make friends through auditions, dress rehearsals, and performances where we share the love of the performing arts in Taos.
